[October 31, 2005] Hunter Technology Increases Capabilities with Technology Investment
Hunter Technology has added enhanced reliability MicroVia capabilities with the recent acquisition of Excellon’s new 689 Multi-Spindle Drilling Machine, combined with a new Inspecta X-Ray Drill Optimizer from Pluritec.
The Excellon 689 is targeted at manufacturers desiring high-tech drilling flexibility for smaller production runs, first articles and prototype work.
Pluritec’s Inspecta drills optimized process registration holes (such as anti rotation, laser or other reference holes), in an optimized position related to the inner layers' position after the lamination process.
The machine detects the position of certain internal references and establishes new coordinates that will be assumed as a reference for registration during hole drilling operations. The registration holes will be drilled with the desired, but strictly constant, distance between centers, while the segment connecting these centers will be positioned so as to minimize the so called "anular ring" which is a consequence of the drilling operation.
It can also be used as a single spindle drill machine.
Hunter Technology has invested over a million dollars in capital equipment, advanced technology, facilities and human resources since its management buyout from Ambitech International, which was completed earlier this year. The company has experienced a significant increase in demand from both its current customers and from new customers who are looking for the enhanced Hunter solutions, which include the fabrication of RoHS Certified Compliant PCBs, lead-free assembly and certification.
Hunter is committed to meeting the needs of the industry by sustaining its focus and core competence in support of North America's product research and development effort.
